Does Not Meet Expectaions, Just Average
January 07, 2017I paid more to buy the variable speed unit based on my interpretation of the claims made online and in the product brochure. I thought that the fan speed would vary from slow to fast over the heat cycle but that doesn't happen. The fan comes on at full speed within a few seconds of the thermostat calling for heat and blows high speed cold air until until the heat exchanger warms up enough to provide actual heat. I find that annoying; the old furnace didn't do that. There's more air flow than the old system as well and I'm not sure that's actually a good thing. It makes quite a wind; certainly not something I consider comfortable. So, I was certainly expecting something quite different but the unit does heat effectively. No way to tell so far if it's more efficient or whether the summertime AC will be better.
