Innovation: A Legacy of Firsts at Lennox
In 1895, the world’s first riveted-steel furnace rolled off our assembly lines and we’ve been at it ever since —developing reliable, innovative heating and cooling systems to keep you comfortable.
Dave Lennox decided to sell the furnace business and was purchased by D.W. Norris, editor and publisher of the local newspaper.
He incorporated the operation as Lennox Furnace Company, and proceeded to sell 600 furnaces in the company's first year.
Lennox pioneers the introduction of a forced-air furnace for residential heating.
Lennie Lennox, Lennox's icon, came to life.
His image helped spread the word about the Lennox Furnace company during the 1940's and 50's.
Lennox establishes an international division with a facility in Basingstoke, England and sales offices and warehouses in Holland and Germany.
"Dave Lennox" appears in his first Lennox advertising campaign with L.A. actor Bill Tracy in the role.
Lennox develops and manufactures the industry's first high-efficiency gas furnaces.
Introduced first air conditioner to achieve 15 SEER efficiency rating
Lennox introduces CompleteHeat(TM), the first combination space and hot-water high-efficiency heating system by a major HVAC manufacturer.
Lennox International completes an Initial Public Offering becoming a public company on July 29, 1999.
